counterfit OS

I purchased windows 7 pro full version on line but when I went to verify it with MS it failed. I emailed the vendor two times but got no reply. Is there someone I can report this to? It seems to me MS should provide investigative services, it would be in their interest to shut down counterfit suppliers.

Well last time I heard of it happening my buddy called up MS had to spend a bit of $$$ on a valid key. They checked out the place he bought it from first before offering him a key but it wasn't to expensive it just took 2-3 weeks for them to check.

Jeez, I know a few people who bought software on Ebay etc. Most times it looked like a great deal but was a burned disk with an invalid key.

Buying software online from anyone but the distributor is usually not a good idea.

I have two counterfeit copies of Office Pro 03 sitting at home. Took a little while for me to figure it out.

you could always try checking the piracy site Microsoft has set up.

Since I was unable to use my new windows 7 disk I attempted to reload my old windows vista but that, too, would not validate. The message I got from microsoft was that it was already in use. I know this OS is valid, I have used it before with no trouble. There seemed no way I could reach MS, I just got a recorded voice with no other options shown. I decided to load linux ubuntu and ordered a book but there was a 4 month backlog. I have to wonder if other people are having similar problems with MS.

What version of Vista were you trying to load on that computer? Depending on the type, it may have been tied to the original computer and wan't validate now. Is it an OEM version, full retail, or upgrade version?

Now your on the right path :)
No more MS - BS. Ubuntu has a lot of good documentation online and the Ubuntu forum is quite good.
