Hello everyone, I am new here so feel free to tell me if this is the wrong place to post this. I have an HP Pavilion 513n, I want to know if it is possible to add memory to it. I know some computers you can't so I just want to make sure I can before I buy the memory. We are also getting wireless internet and the modem is going on the new computer we're getting. The HP is going in my room and the people at qwest told my mom that we can get wireless internet on the HP if it has a wireless chip. I need to know how to install one if I even can.

Are these the specs of your computer?

# Processor: 1.80 GHz Intel Celeron
# Number of Processors: 1
# RAM: 256 MB
# RAM Type: DDR DRAM
# Hard Drive: 60 GB
# Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition

And yes you can upgrade memory, but you should open it up and see how many slots are there, since if they're all filled up, you'll have to swap one out. And regarding wireless, just buy a pci wireless adapter or usb wireless adapter.

Max memory 2gb PC2100/PC1600 on 2 memory sockets.

oh, one more thing, the wireless is said to be 25x faster than dial up , do you think that'll hold up for online gaming?

Well it depends on what type of modem you are using. Cable Modem should be fine, as would DSL. Basically anything besides dialup will do the trick. As far as the wireless card... you need to check the back of your computer and see if you have a free PCI slot. That is located at the bottom of the back of your computer. You should see these horizontal metal things, some cards (like a video card, or sound card) will be installed there, and there should be empty ones with just a metal piece that covers where it would go. Check and see if you have a free slot, if so then you can get a wireless card, just buy a compatible one with your router (most are 802.11g/b nowadays so it should be fine).
