CPU at 100% while playing NFSU2

While playing need for speed underground2 my cpu stays at 100% usage, and NFS isn't that demanding of a game, what could cause this? My proc is a 2800+ xp

I thought it might be some driver conflicts or somthin , i dunno
 
are you sure that it is the game using all of the cpu, take a look in the processes tab of device manager
 
i can't tell because when i push the winkey during gameplay it like pasues the games then the cpu goes to like 4% overall usage, but i can tell that it has been at 100 cause of the graph
and this was in task manager, i don't know how to get to device manager

is it causing problems in the game,

the game may just be using all you cpu cycles. Its not that unusual
 
even if you upgrade you may still get the same thing, in laymans it just means the game is taking advantage of all the cpu cycles it can.
 
Yeah

I get that with most games anyway. That's why the games perform better at higher frequencies. The game basically, as is stated above, uses all the resources availble to it from the processor in order to give you the max performance. If that were not true then games would basically run the same on many processors (same on A64 3000+, A64 3500+, A64 4000+ and so on). Do you see what I am saying.

anything like a game will use that much processing power... thing about all the things that have to take place; memory calls, physics calculations, AI... a game is usually launched so that it uses all available cpu power.... its nothing unusual :)
 
By default, a greater share of your processor time is scheduled to your programs, not background services, same goes for the system memory.

This can be changed however depending on what the system is used for. (eg server environments)

nfsu is fairly demanding if the settings are up high. the box specification can be deceiving because those state the minimum requirements where details are set to low and the car begins to look like boxes.

Which game are you playing? NFS? or NFS Underground2?
