i have a 955be

i also run 2 asus gtx560ti's in sli

apparently my cpu is seriously bottlenecking my graphics cards

can someone confirm this?

if it is can some please suggest an AM3 processor that would be a better option, and please no one tell me to buy intel as im just a die hard AMD fan and have been for about 20 years

cheers anyways

sorry to burst your bubble, but you cannot find much a better solution, the trinity stuff just came out, but when your spending about 200 bucks on a cpu, midas well spend and get better IPC, go intel. i got a core i7 on my desk for about 229, waiting on a mobo next month. as much as i like amd, i cant fathom spending money on inferior hardware, when i could get a better chip for about the same money (trinity is amd's new apu architecture, they seem to have fixed some of the woes with bulldozer, but its still a deal of too little too late, if your serious about getting the most out of your buck, go intel.)

Actually he did answer your question, not a simple yes, but if you can think, you could tell he was saying yes. Whats your budget, for a new motherboard and CPU, mininum would be $200, but $300 would give a awesome setup.

to further explaination- check out socket 1155, if you have ddr3 already, the transition between the am3 chip to the 155 chip could be just a mobo + cpu, which would be far better bang for your buck than the route im going, which is socket 2011. a i5 would suit your needs fine along with a z77 board, i just cannot justify having purchase another amd cpu myself when they havent made strong gains lately.

if he, and you, have OEM windows, he will need another copy also. The copy of windows (OEM) is tied to the motherboard, thus both would be tied to the AM3(+) that you have.

But otherwise, yea. All you need is CPU and motherboard.

And no one cares what "can" be done. Legally you can not. You get caught, have fun going to federal prison for breaking the EULA thus technically violating the copywrite. Don't follow the rules and you are no better than a pirate.

Actully, many people care it can be done. By the way, I actually haven't, I did it on 3 different mobos to try them out, and quickly bought new windows.

2 things.
1. You legally can not do it.
2. You will have to reinstall because all it will do is bootloop on the current install.

And technically you should not be helping by saying it can be done. Technically if they do it, violating the EULA and thus becoming a pirate, then you will be an accessory. Helping to break the law is breaking the law.

wow this went off topic really quick lol. dw i have a genuine copy of windows so i could go for reinstall if need be, for the time being though i have been advised to change for a 1100t hex core, so ill save my pennies and get one i think!

cheers anyways

Dude im sorry but nothing you add to that system is going to be worth buying an AMD chip. Everyone I know around here may think im an Intel arse bitch, but im not. BUT, all the evidence suggests that you are going to pay anymoney for a hex core CPU.

Extra cores has no effect, repeat: NO EFFECT above 3/4 cores.
Point 2: Its the IPC (e.g. stuff it can do per cycle) that counts. AMD is abismal compariatively.

Post the rest of your specs as you're probably better off buying a SSD or a better mobo.

Certainly a poor decision to go to the AMD chip IMHO.

If you want to put money into your machine, it shouldn't be an AMD replacement fail. Unless you're doing encoding, they're slower than the i3.

To answer your question you will not see any improvement. We also don't know if its compatiable.

Saddest part is for the price of the 1100t, you could get a much stronger intel i5, which would solve your problem, as bigfella has said, as have I, the amd solutions are inadequate, you need to change to intel to remove the possibility of a bottleneck.
