Which processor is better or faster? AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ (2.6Ghz, 2000HT, 2MB L2 Cache) or the Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.4Ghz, 1066FSB, 4MB L2 Cache)? Which processor would be suitable for gaming? And also what type of motherboard, ram and graphic card is recommended with either of these two processors?
 
Here is a good benchmarking site, it shows that the E6600 is probably just slightly better, although the processor that I used was a X2 5000+, not a 5200+ which I don't think makes too much of a difference since they are at the same clock speed.
Either way, the e6600 and the X2 5200+ are quite similar, however the E660 is slightly better.
 
The E6600 is best when overclocked, and you can get an overclock of about 1GHz out of one easily using a Gigabyte GA-965P-(D)S3.
