CPU cooler paste

My core2due E6300 ideal temp is around 40 D(degree) which i think is quit a lot hotter. Is it because I haven't put any CPU cooler paste on it?Or is it because of old type of case with just one rare exhaust fan?Another question is is CPU cooler paste must?

If you didn't apply a good thermal compound between the heak sink and cpu you are likely to cook the cpu rather fast at some point. That conducts the heat from the cpu into the hsf. The 40C is still within a normal temp range while nor being the ideal there. The max temps on most new models both Intel and AMD run about 60-70C.

Increasing the air flow even going with a better case would certainly help see all temps drop lower. Having a large front intake as well as a large rear exhaust fan will see the cooler air drawn in through the front while the heated air gets blown out at the rear of the case.

Does the intel C2D E6300 model comes bundle with cooler tape in heat sink or not because I upgraded my PC myself for the first time with the help of my fren. And we both didn't watch wether there was or not.If not then I have to apply a good one.Could you suggest any good one?

There are two top rated comounds with the most popular being Artic Silver 5. The one will cost more and is suposed to be better? then AS5 called Liquid Pro. The typical cheap white paste doesn't offer the heat transfer capability seen with AS5 or another good compoind. When buying retail any cpu will come with a stock heat sonk/fan combination and may have a small tube of a rather half way decent paste. AS5 has a higher silver content over others since that will conduct heat better from cpu to sink.
