CPU Cooler Advice: Phanteks PH-TC14PE vs Corsair-Hydro-H50 vs Other

Hi,

I have been posting a fair amount on here recently about a recent upgrade to my computer and fear I made a rushed decision.

I have bought the lovely colour coordinated, super performance Phanteks PH-TC14PE because it was the best; what I didn't realise was how unbelievably big it was. I've read that only standard sized RAM modules can be fitted when the fan is installed ... new memory is not :(

For a little bit less I can get the Corsair-Hydro-H50 and from what I read this actually has pretty much the same performance but a much smaller footprint.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these coolers and would care to comment on how I should proceed.

P.s. Another possibility is keeping my current CPU cooler, has the mounting changed between Intel Socket 775 and 1366?

H60 is a good choice. I have one running on my i7 right now. Keeps my i7 with 1.32v at low 40s at idile and under 75 with Prime95. I would probably invest in the H80 over the H60. It will cool a bit better and make a push pull configuration more effective. Are you looking to OC at all?
 
I will OC a little but nothing major, perhaps 4ghz - 4.2ghz. Just as an update I definately can't fit the phantek cooler so H60 or H80
 
Since you have the Hex core i7 I would go H80 or H100. I am not too sure how much more heat the 960 gives off over the 930 but if you are looking for 4.2 than you will want really good cooling solution.
 
be careful trying to fit a H100, i just managed to fit one in a antec 1200. will be trying again to fit it, the case was a tight squeeze for it...it barely just barely fit
 
Thanks for the heads up guys, I think I'm going to stick with the H60 but install an after market fan (very little room in my case)

Indeed they did as long as they were below 10KB or something silly like that, as you cant get them these days I don't want to change :P
