I have just purchased a Zalman CNPS7700-CU Ultra-Quiet CPU Cooler and was wondering if it would be advisable to also buy a vga cooler as well or if the capabilitys of the zalman are good enough to do this by itself.
Actually it [for the most part] doesnt. The main heat source of the video card is on the far side of the card ... which is opposite the side any air from the HSF would ever get to (not that the air would be either effective nor cool). If you look at the picture Tweaker posted, that applies only when you have such a heatpipe+doublesink setup (although the size of the arrows is incredibly misleading of any degree of airflow)This particular one does as the heat sync cools the cpu and the fan is said to cool the vga and other components
