CPU dramatic loss in speed

In about the last week or two my processor speed has dropped dramatically. I know it mainly now when watching videos. I struggle to do anything while watching videos and cant play 720p properly anymore.
 
Heat. Get a can of compressed air and blow out your fans underneath.

They could be clogged with dust and such.
 
It doesnt feel hot at all to be honest
And its slow from startup so I dont know but surely it would take a while to heat up!
 
Is it possible your power settings somehow reverted to a power-saver mode, which would slow the processor in an attempt to save power? I keep mine in performance mode all the time, or issues such as you mentioned crop up.
