CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) Question

Hey, just got my build up and running the other day. Everything is stock as of now but i am noticing some squealing noises coming from the MB which transfers through the speakers depending on how loud they are turned up.

Did some searching and found it is cause by CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) being enabled (only does it when the system is idling as it lowers the voltage and multipliers). When i disable it, there is no noise or interference what so ever.

In my case, with a stock system, what are some pros and cons of having it enabled vs disabled? I did notice my idle temps we up about 2-3C degrees with it disabled. I also have the CM V8 HSF.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the only pros are reduced heat and power consumption. A 2-3C idle temp increase won't harm anyone, so it isn't really major.

Thanks for the input. I just figure i will wait to see if Gigabyte releases a BIOS update to solve the issue :)

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it much. If it has a problem with it, they'll probably release an update for it. If you can find a way to contact them, you might want to tell them about it so they know.

If you have installed the Easy Tune utility then disable it or un-install it if your not going to use it.

The utility has cause a few problems such as what your describing and removing it, as I did, solved the problem.

:)

id contact gigabyte as noodle said, will get them to look into it in more detail, they may not even be aware of the bug, which could be both lucky and unlucky for you
