CPU Error Message on Startup

I was on my computer watching a movie, and the power went out to our house. After it came back on a few minutes later, I waited a few minutes and turned it on and got this message as its booting the bi:

G8-K8NSP F4

Main Processor : AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+
<CPUID:OFCO Patch ID:003A>

It has the "Press DEL to enter setup" but that function is not responsive. I cant enter setup. I think the CPU must have short circuited after the power failure. Can anyone give me any help on the error message? Thanks

Jeff

I unplugged it and pressed the power button several times, left it unplugged for a few minutes, turned it on and the same thing happened. You said I should try reseting the BIOS? How do I do that? Keep in mind I can not access the BIOS. Thanks for the replies

Jeff

Reseting the BIOS is as simple as taking out the CMOS battery on the motherboard. Leave it out for 'bout 30 seconds then put it back in.

The CPU isn't the only suspect it could also be the motherboard itself.. in any case sorry to hear it. :(

The power supply should have blown a fuse that stopped the computer from getting a surge. Make sure you didnt get thermal paste on the CPU/mobo causing a short either.

Sorry to bring up an old topic but I'm having the EXACT same problem as fej180 and would love to solve it as soon as possible. I'm quite new to computer so if you could just break the method down step by step, I would really appreciate it.

PS: Fej180, what method did you use to fix this problem?
