CPU fan high idle

I'm having quite the struggle.. I just put my new FX-8320 on my new mono, and now it's running hot.

The first thing I thought was the CPU fan not being plugged in... It is, and it's in the right spot.

The thermal paste that's on the stock heatsink looks like it went on properly with no bubbles. And the core IDLE is currently 46C.

I ventured into the BIOS but couldn't see anything about fan control. My guess is 46 is high for this CPU.

Might just buy a 212 Evo and some AS5.

UPDATE: Remaining around 75C when playing BF4. Should I be worried with this temp?

Honestly sounds normal to me. Very limited experience with the CPU, but the stock heatsinks are awful and should be replaced :)

It's really loud and obnoxious, but still runs more smoothly than my 860K.

I'm not seeing any performance gains yet :(

Well your 860K ran 200mz higher at idle. Other then the FX L3 cache, if your using less the 4 cores your not going to tell a difference. But 46c is high at idle.

Yeah, no point having a FX without overclocking it, lol

True.

I've brought it up to 3.9 now... Temps are less than they were the first day... Also helps that I moved my top exhaust fan right over the heatsink....

Update as of 15 minutes later: I have purchased a Hyper 212 Evo. This thing is turning into a money pit 0_0

My 212 and 8320 hits the low 50s at load with Prime.

I'm sitting at 48C running Prime right now.. THANKFULLY the outside temp dropped 25F and it's now 15F (9C?) cooler ambient...

This 212 makes a massive difference.
