CPU fan not connected??

My in-laws pc been running ok for months.Switched it on yesterday on boot up one long beep and message CPU fan not connected then after a few seconds two more long beeps and shuts down.Changed fan for new one,it's working but still the same on boot up.Older system using PC Chips socket462 mboard and AMD Duron 750.
Any suggestions appreciated.
 
Is the fan connected to the FAN_ connector on the motherboard or is it powered elsewhere? :)
