Cpu Fan Problem

I just built a new computer and everytime i start it up my cpu fan doesnt start up right away.Tried replacing the power supply same problem. Its almost like it has to get fairly hot to kick in. If I restart it a few times it will finally start spinning. No Post error codes or anything. Anyone have a clue?

Assuming it's connected directly to the motherboard, the power supply really shouldn't be the problem. If anything, I bet it would be the motherboard. Have you tried another fan, even a standard case fan on the port? Have you checked the bios? Maybe you have some sort of "smart fan" stuff in there that's trying to slow the fan too much(to the point it won't spin) A new/old computer I have will let me control the fans though speedfan, and anything below about 60% won't even spin the CPU fan.

Thanks but...

Thank u for trying to help and yea its possible its the motherboard, but I dont think its a bios setting because after it gets hot it starts spinning again...so its not some setting that I could think of....it starts spinning just a tiny bit then stops then does the same thing over and over again...Then if i start my computer over it will do that for abit then finally kick in.Sorry I probably should have gone into alittle more detail there.

Go into BIOS - some sort of PC health option it automatically turns on the fan when its get to 50C foir example - disbale it and will start up when turned on - or plug it into a 3 to 4 pin connecter straight to the PSU

taylormsj reiterating what I basically said. On my Asus it's called Q-Fan I beleive... Though my fans don't stop, they slow down to around 1000RPMs. I suspect some fans might stop, espcailly some that don't go that fast(my CPU fan maxes out around 4500RPM, but my previous only hit 2000...)

But that is the point of such things...not to kick the fan in until needed. When it gets hot, kick the fan in. Less fan=less noise :P

Hi

tried turning those off get a solid beep error.Plus maybe im wrong in my thinking :S...but i figured if it was that wouldnt it just not turn at all? and then start spinning when it needed too? instead of acting like its not getting proper power...Idk

I had the same problem as well. All I did was thoroughly check the connections, and it replugged it a couple of times. Now it always runs, BUT in the start, it doesnt turn on immediatly. Only after you hear the system beep then it decides to go on. Anyone knows how to fix that?
