CPU fan question?

Hi,

Does a CPU fan suck air in or push air out? Also I have a a sort of tube that goes over the CPU and fan and I guess pushes/pulls air directly to the fan. Are these any good?

Hope you can help :)
 
A CPU fan sucks air onto the CPU and then the hot air is pushed out through the gaps in the heatsink.

You mean, you have a duct that goes to a slot on the side of your case, I guess they're Ok, at least then it's drawing cool air from out side the case in, instead of warm air from in the case.

Thanks alot also sorry for posting in the wrong part of the forum!(just realised there's a fans topic lol)

I recently bought two new fans for my computer(one sucking air and and one pushing out) and I was thinking about putting a fan into the air duct(well attaching it to the case then put the duct around it) Would there be any problems in doing this (apart from the wiring) as my CPU reaches about 62c where as the rest of my system runs things like games at a temp of 40c

ALL heatsink and fan systems have the fan sucking air IN and pushing it through the heatsink to remove heat, it very ineffective to suck air OUT of the heatsink.
 
you can put a fan into the side, then put the duck over it, so the fan is blowing air toward the CPU fan/heatsink, so you may get lower temps.
