Hi, i recently installed my ATI x850 pro and i soon noticed that my cpu fan had just totally stopped moving. My system specs are below...which indicates i have more than a 350 watt psu.

Thanks

What are the temps, on my mobo its programmed to stop the cpu fan when its under <20C, your motherboard might have a setting like that.

why would you want it to stop?

i mean it would only be off for a couple of seconds because lets say if it was true and hit hit 19C "very cold for even a amd"
and it turned off, it should turn back on within 10-30seconds because it would warm up pretty quick

OK, so here is what i have discovered... The fan does turn on when the computer is turned on, it also stays on while im logged into windows. After that it just seems to loose RPM slowly and then totally shut s off.

Have you watched the temps when this happens?

try plugging your cpu fan into another socket on the motherboard, you'll need to change the option that stops your computer shutting down when the fan stops.
do you have cool and quiet enabled?

cool and quiet is DISABLED...the temps were above 30 and rising when the cpu fan shut off.

mmm its about 6 months old....not to mention this problem only occured after installed the x850 pro.

umm....taking random stabs at the questions, could be psu problem, failing fan (try with another fan). Try using your old graphics card and see what happens.

I've just made another discovery. I decided to run 3dmark05...once i got to the cpu part the fan started to kick in again..once it got into the 40+celcius range...now as 3dmark05 is over it starts a steady decline towards 0 once more. This seems like a BIOS or software problem rather than a hardware one.

So did you say that there was or wasnt an option in the BIOS to have the cpu shutoff at a certain temp?
