so ive decided im going to go for a cpu on newegg, a clawhammer 3700+, and ive read lots of stuff about how good a company they are, but i started getting scared when i read all their disclaimers about refurbished things, (the cpu is refurbished) but it would only come out to about 185$. its ONLY THE PROCESSOR, which got me even more nervous, but i figured it isnt that hard to get the drivers and whatnot right? so im wondering, does this sound like a good investment to go in on? because im really looking to start a computer. thanks

make sure you get a heatsink/fan and thermal paste and you should be alright. You dont need to get drivers for it, just stick it in and it should work.

alright...i decided to get it. i think ill get the hs and mobo sometime after christmas. then probably ram or a case. i dont want to spend a lot of money all at once, it gives me time to think about it.

Generically speaking, you dont need drivers for a CPU

If you've not bought it yet, dont bother with the 3700, it's a not a noticeable performance boost from the 3400 :)
