I currently own a very good HP NX series business laptop with a docking station and it's running fine but I am itching to get a new one for no particular reason at all.
My laptop CPU is a T2400 with 2MB of L2 cache and the new processors are 1MB L2 cache unless I buy a Centrino 2 duo which are also 2 MB and up in L2 cache. I am not interested in 64 bit OS and apps so that is not an issue.
If I get a compuer with the T4200 processor (1 MB L2 cache), will it be a huge upgrade? What about a T6400 C2D processor? Will that be a huge upgrade?
I believe my T2400 CPU has an advantage over the T4200 because of the 2 MB L2 cache but please tell me if I am missing something here. My laptop has an 80GB HD and no webcam but I'd hate to buy something without knowing if indeed it will be an upgrade.
I use the computer for programming and some photoshop and illustrator and I have 3GBs of RAm and a ATI 256 MB dedicated video card.
Please educate me and thanks.
