My build- i5-4690k. Gigabyte Z97 chipboard. 8 GB RAM ripjaws. 750W PSU zotac gtx 970. Corsair 750D case. Evo 840 128 GB SSD. 1 TB secondary. Anyway I'm on my phone srry for the run on here. But my question is I bought a evo 212 cooler. An wanted to install it myself an I'm honestly too scared to do it I had a friend build it for me...so what all is their to doing it. An will the thermal paste that came with it b sufficient. Thx

All you will need to do is remove the old cooler, clean the CPU to remove the residual thermal paste, and then install the new CPU cooler. It should come with a thermal pad pre-installed on the bottom.

Maybe the Evo is different but my 212+ came with just a tube of thermal paste that had to be installed.

Remove the old cooler and CPU. Clean the CPU VERY carefully using coffee filters and rubbing alcohol (91 percent works best). Once it's completely cleaned off reinstall the CPU then install the cooler.

Video on installation with your specific cooler and socket. You can install it with the board still in the case, assuming your case has a cutout on the back of the motherboard tray. Most do.

Just because I've seen some other people doing so, isopropyl alcohol works too, right?

Read the instructions that come in the box of the 212 ;)

They aren't that difficult once you figure it out. I've installed the 212 on both platforms, it's pretty straightforward either way.
