hey everyone i just got a 9950be 2 days ago...
it sits around 55C
i put arctic silver 5 on it n i think it says to wait a few days
for it to do its thing but
my case is an matx
n i have a 4870 running in there aswell..
but the 4870 sits around 40-43C
does anyone know of a heatsink that would fit on my cpu that i could also
squeeze into my case (X-QPack2)...im thinking about cutting some of
the supports to fit SOMETHING or ANYTHING that will cool the cpu down
in there (just dont know what yet)...
im kinda limited to something smaller than 120mm, ill show you some pics of what i mean...
hope these arent too confusing

That's a 140w model while seeing 55C idle is still a little bit high. Are you using the stock hsf? most likely.

A great 3rd party cooler used on the Socket AM2 6000+ X2 125w cpu is the Zalman CNPS9700 seen at http://www.xoxide.com/zalman-cnps9700-cu-cooler.html

That sees a 110mm fan surrounded by a large copper array along with the copper base and heat tubes. There are two things in particular that will emd up seeing higher cpu temps in general to consider besides simply a stock hsf.

The first would be applying too much as you mentioned AS-5 on the cpu shield or hsf now in use. That will see temps climb since the thermal won't be able to bond fully in time as well as not seeing the proper heat transfer. The image here shows just how much should be used on an older AMD model spread evenly to see a just less then paper thin layer.

The second item most won't realize is having a case lacking good air flow seeing board temps climb results in seeing cpu temps running high. A case seeing a rear fan only and no front or side vents? A close look at the case you have is seen at http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/qpack_pink/

No intake fans to allow cooler room air in being a compact mini case with still a good sized supply? Recipe for heat buildup. The problem with the Zalman seen at the link there is that case doesn't provide enough space for a number of 3rd party coolers you could end up looking at.

For a cpu cooler seeing a fan and not fanless like some Zalman sees a different style of cooler that sees a low profile rather then the height with the 9700. The CNPS7500 is seen at http://www.xoxide.com/zalman-cnps-7500-cu-led.html
