CPU meter.

For people who know me with my vast amount of computer knowledge which is zero.I would like to know what a CPU meter is for and how does it work.
Cheers.

A CPU meter shows the load on the cores as a percentage.

As in the Task Manager. It shows the core and RAM usage with a few other things too.

I always run the Task Manager with Real Temp on my second monitor. To not have these up and running is like driving a car without a speedo, rev counter and engine temperature gauge.

At this moment the big one reads 01% and the little one reads 36% is that good.:)

That's fine. Your CPU is pretty much doing nothing and your currently using 36% of your RAM.

What CPU are you running and how much RAM have you got?

How do i find that out.

I have window 7 if that makes a difference.

I'm loving W7!

My guess is you have 2GB or 3GB RAM?

Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System. It should tell you the CPU your running there.

Processor:Intel(R)Core(TM)i5 CPU [email protected].
Installed Memory (RAM) 4.00GB.
I copied this from where you told me to go.:)

That's the one. Nice CPU BTW.

So 36% of 4GB is 1.44GB and that's how much your system was using when you posted previously.

Right now i'm using 33% of 3GB RAM, that's 1GB, but I only have Chrome open with a few tabs.

So yea the CPU meter just shows some vital system info.

No worries.

Forgot to mention that the top windows will show CPU core activity and how many windows you have at the top depends on the type of CPU. In the Windows Task Manager window at the top you'll find 'File', 'Options', 'View' and 'Help'. Click on 'View' > Update Speed and select High. That setting works for me.

So you will see 4 boxes at the top showing CPU history and the big one at the bottom shows RAM usage.

CPU Meter

If I may piggyback on this thread, I have a problem with a process meter I installed many months ago and would now like to uninstall except I can't find it. What it does is pop up little windows in the upper right corner of my screen showing processor activity every time a hard drive is accessed or a program accesses RAM. It often also displays little windows showing hard faults.

The windows are fairly small and they are transparent in that I can still see some of what is on the screen before the windows pop up. There can be a dozen windows showing various activities all at the same time. There is currently one showing CPU 5% and MediaMonkey 24.1%. I'm not currently playing any music so I suppose MediaMonkey is indexing files I've recently downloaded.

I've searched the Task Manager for running processes and msconfig for everything that loads at startup and I just can't identify what this program could be called. It was truly an install and forget it type thing, because I really have forgotten what it was called or where it could be hiding. I don't see anything in C://Program Files. It's not the CPU meter that's available in Gadgets.

I'm afraid this one really burrows itself deep into the system. I'd appreciate any suggestions or ideas on how I could find it and turn it off. It starts running as soon as the computer starts booting up. It shows both a bar graph and a percentage reading in each window and they are in a variety of colors. It displays svhost activity and just everything going on with the CPU. Thanks.

My system: Windows 7 Pro, Intel 2Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz, 32 bit, 4 GB RAM
