OR

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 Stepping (2.4GHz 1066MHz) Socket 775 L2 8MB Cache

Quite a hard choice, you could go with the Q9300 its 45nm ,its more but has 2mb less L2 cache than the Q6600.

Yer i was going to go with the Q6600 in the first place but i was not sure whether to or not? But i think i might now THANKS FOR YOUR HELP =]

the Q6600 is fasntastic, look around the forum and just see how many people have them ;)

you could overclock it to 3.2-3.4 maybe higher with good cooling :)

O.o I just noticed you have it aswell ;) What cooling do you use? Im going with fan cooling considering its my second build i dont want to open up and explore yet until i get more confident with what im doing xD

yup,i upgraded from a Core 2 duo E6300.

im using the Asus Silent Knight II,and my idle temps around 31c and load 49-53.

depending how warm it is in the house,so not bad.

i would however reccomend getting a Tuniq Tower LED,kornowski has one on here and ive not seen anyone else in the forum have such low temps on air.

Nice i was thinking of going with the Zalman CNPS9700? I wonder how that could compare to the Tuniq tower?

That Zalman cooler is also good but i dont think it will beat the Tuniq tower.

Arr ok then i have my CPU and my CPU cooler sorted thanks for the advice and help :)

EDIT: and also i dont understand these temp things whats good and what is not would you be able to help me out? thanks!

hehe,

the temps....the lower the better just to keep her cool.

Everest is good but I would say if you just want to monitor the temps I would use RealTemp found here:
http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1080/Real_Temp_2.60.html
You should be in the lows 30c's at idle and at max load at around the low 70's. You can use realtemp to stress your cpu to find what the temps are at max load. You don't need to worry what your temps are at startup. Just get to the desktop and see what they are there.
