CPU Temp?

My CPU (AMD Athlon X2 6400+) is currently idling at around 52 Celcius.. from what i have been reading this seems a little high, is it normal? Also at what temp does it get critically hot around?
PS: Im using the stock CPU fan.

i put a post about hat and my temp was 42 celcious idle. u should get a better fan...thats what im going to do...also keep the case slider side door thing open and amke sure that the exhaust in the back isnt hitting a wall...the hot air wold bounce right back.

52C idling now that is ridiculously high did u remember to put the paste on the CPU b4 u put
on the CPU fan
now what temp does it get critically hot around u don't want it over 65C really but critical is about 70-75 an above

how many fans are in your case and what's your ambient temperature? i believe it's hot this time of year down there

my old p4 2.2ghz processor idled around 44c at room temp and 50c during the summer (it was hot). no case fans. just cpu fan and power supply

My CPU fan came with the CPU and it already had a solution of some sort on the bottom where it touches it. I have one case fan, the CPU fan and the PSU fan. My wires are a bit jumbled up and not too neat at the moment, might that have something to do with it?
PS: Yes it is summer and it gets pretty hot!

imo your temps are normal in your situation. i'd say sort out your cables and get more fans like a better cpu fan if you want your temps to lower. better yet air condition your room

i lived in australia for 6 years and i know it gets hot there. brisbane if anybody wants to know

There is suppose to be a pad at the bottom of the heatsink, you didn't remove it did you?

No i did not, altough it was my first time building the computer and the CPU fan was hard to put on, i did not remove the paste, took a while fit it right tho...

Keep in mind that it's a 6400+ and those are just bound to run hot. But you should also probably do something about those wires. You'd be amazed at how big a difference it can make. If you've got the extra money, I'd invest in a new CPU fan and good paste (Arctic Silver 5) and maybe even a few more case fans.

are your HDDS IDE interface cos if they are them wires get in the way a lot you can buy IDE cables now that plug in as IDE an shrinks to about a 3CM round bunch they helped my old computers temp by about 6C

My disc drive is IDE but thats the only device that is, which is annoying really. I guess i will be buying a new CPU fan. I have a few questions too. Im thinking about either the Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro, but its for Intel... is the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro the same just for AMD?
Or
The Zalman CNPS9700LED. Naturally i would much rather the AC Freezer as its much less, but will it be enough?
