CPU Temp

Hey what do you think of this temp? My processor is supposedly running at 25-27 Celsius idle. I cannot seem to believe it although it is an Athlon 64 3000+ (Venice). And I could add that it is clocked at 2.25Ghz.

my Intel 3.0Ghz runs around 45*C when its idle, i might add that it has no thermal paste and i have the stock heatsink/fan, i think 25*C seems a little cool for it.

could be off, could be right. i really have no idea cuz' i havent personally messed with a Venice yet

i got 18C though once at bootup. 2000MHZ 200*10 1.425v. lowest temp ever in the years i've had this PC.

Oh well....I could not resist but touch the heatsink of the CPU and it is very cool indeed. Now that my processor (A64 3000+ Venice) is clocked from 1.8 original to 2.55 current means that my temp is 35 celsius .

I am not precisely an Amd fan, but the truth is...
that the Venice is runnning very cool at 1.4V
(at least the 3800+), you can tell me if that is
a characteristic of all the Venice processors...

I use the stock cooler and it's all at 30 Idle max at 20 Celsius room temp. I think that's very impressive from AMD

That is indeed a very nice temperature...If I were you, I'd buy an even better HSF, maybe a tT, and see what results you get from that - they should be better

YES it is possible and normal situation.

I was wondering too when I helped to make a comp. from various components(including AMD 64-bit. 3200+). This machine has about 29 Celsius if idle vs. P4 2,8(overclocked to 3.35) 52 Celsius idle - 64 Celsius under hard testing(huge prime numbers).

I mentioned this before to you on your other threads as well as on Y! ... idle temperatures dont mean much.
