CPU Temp

Ok so my CPU runs at about 47C when it's idling. Is this too hot? What's the average? And when I go over to my computer, I feel a wave of warm air all around.

I would say that is normal. Are you concerned or wish to reduce the temperature inside the case?

well before, I had a 1.6GHz P4 and it was running at around 35C. I guess I'm not used to the 10 degree increase.

47C sounds a bit high to me at Idle I had a x2 4800+ before my new setup. and it ran at 42 degrees idle , 47 load and then i got a new heatsink 'tower 112' by thermaltake and then it ran at 35 degrees idle, 42 degrees load ,now my new E6400 at 3.2ghz runs at 30 degrees idle 42ish on load

Stock or after market? your only motive to get a new one i think should only be cause its loud, not because of the tempture. cause it shouldn't die anytime soon. long as you haven't uped the voltage or overclocked it. 47 degrees should be fine.

but if you want to overclock then get a better one

47 is not bad. It won't damage anything. You can work on getting it cooler with a better heatsink etc, but if it isn't worth the effort to you since it is in the normal operating range, then don't worry about it. Game on.
