i recently downloaded a program to monitor my cpu temp and it is saying
my 2 cores are running around 45 c at 1-10% i think this may be a bit hot and how can i fix that

my cpu is amd athlon x2 6400 @ 3.2ghz with stock heatsink

the amd dual cores run very hot compared to other cpu's. That is actually a good temp. I wouldn't start worrying till you are around 56-60.

the cpu was running at more consistent temperatures of 50 celcius for a couple days, and got up to 61 for a bit. i just installed 2 80mm case fans and they brought it down to 43. the 61 was just after ii closed the case from installing the fans.

45c is alittle hot at idle even for a 6400. Stock heatsink I bet? You can get any of the Athlons down in the 30s at idle with a good aftermarket heatsink and case air flow. That is unless its like 90F in the room the computer is.

its closer to 40c when idle and its pretty hot in this room. its 46c when at 20% activity. it is a stock heatsink, is arctic cooling freezer 64 pro(i think thats the name) any good? its the least expensive heatsink i can find that works with my cpu locally and i am starting to spend too much on my computer
