CPU underclock help

Hey guys i've just joined here in my search for an answer.

I have an old mobo and pentium D 930 3.0Ghz, and I'm trying out Windows 7.

Ive noticed that my CPU is not all I thought it was... Its pretty laggy on the new OS, while my laptop is very quick with a 2.16 Core 2.

I was wondering if I could install a Core 2 Duo E7400 in my old mobo which doesnt support it outright because its FSB doesn't go past 233, and underclock it to FSB 230 which with the 10.5 multiplier equates to 2.4 Ghz?

Any advice on the issue would be greatly appreciated.
 
Yes, it supports the 7400, but what you need to do is flash the bois with your current cpu in it, then swap them, cause im not sure what bois version you have.:)
