cpu upgrade

Hi,
I've just done a rather large leap in cpu's, I've upgraded my laptop from a Celeron M 1.6 Ghz to a Pentium 1.86 Ghz dual core.

Everything seems fine and there is a notable increase in speed. My question is, because my laptop originally came with a a single core Celeron, even though windows xp identifies the new processor, how do I know if its running both cores and not just running a dual core as a single, because it doesn't see it. I know windows has a reputation for displaying info that is not accurate.

I've found a few Identifying features but I want to be sure, I'm handy with computers but I'm no raincoat.....cheers. :)

Some hardware monitoring software like cpu-z or coretemp would tell you what your CPU is running at or as. And some benchmarking software would confirm the speed of the CPU. But, in reality, a dual core CPU will not run only one core. I would encourage you to get some hardware monitoring software and investigate this on your own as a learning experience. But, if you just want a straight answer, if it boots up then both cores are working.

Oh thanks, I'll google the software you suggested, ande yeah I trust your word, straight answer is good enough for me.:)
