CPU Voltage

When you install a new cpu, does the mobo automatically adjust the voltage according to the processor?

I have an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ right now that runs at 1.36v, and I ordered the AMD Athlon 65 X2 3800+ which runs 1.20-1.25v (according to spec).

How will that work when I install it?

Yup, if you're motherboard was made in the last 10-15 years, it should. Back in the day you had to move a bunch of jumpers to change voltage, but you won't see anything like that on a 939 mobo.

I have a 940 (AM2).

In any event, thanks for the heads up :D

Now all I need to do is find a way to OC, since it's locked out of the BIOS =(

As long as you dont have the voltage manually set, and it supports the X2 series, then it will automatically set the voltage.

As for overclocking, if you have a prebuilt system then you're pretty much out of luck. They have Windows-based apps, but they have very limited functionality.

You should just be able to use the default one for Nvidia, if I remember correctly..
