CPUs and Thermal Probe

I have a Thermal Probe from my new multi-panel and need to know how to use it do i put the thermal greese ON the probe or the Probe ON TOP of the greese. It is ok to place the probe under the heatsink isn't it?

Put it over the thermal grease and under the heatsink.
