What are the advantages and disadvantages for getting both an AMD and a Intel p :) rocessor?

Generilization:

AMD - Is better for gaming

Intel - Is better for multi tasking

But this no longer is true in any form or fashion. AMD's dual-core processors are marvelous at multi-tasking, and Intel's CPU's are becoming comparable to AMD's in gaming.

So, trial and error. Pick a processor brand and try it out. If you hate it, then your next computer build should be with another brand. Personally I like AMD because they are affordable and pack a punch, so I recommend you try AMD if you just want advice/recommendations.

Have a look.

Below is a diagram of how the AMD Athlon64 X2 works: (from AMD site)

It was always a relative measure.
Intel still own multithread stuff and video editing
AMD still own gaming due to onboard memory controller.
