Crappy computer

[WTF]

The computer I'm using is so rubbish, sometimes when I sign into Messenger, it freezes and "sends error report" or I need to close, and reopen to go from signing in screen, to messenger list, if you know what I mean.
We're not getting a new computer for a while, is there anything I can do without spending, or as little money as possilbe to make it less crap.

What's your computers specifications, you could try delete not needed files (such as movies). Also run virus checks and defrag your computer would be good.

Virusscan, spy/ad/malware checks, registry/unnecessary files cleanup.
Those are the first thing you might want to do.

A few options.

Check out this free anti-virus software by avast if you don't already have any(be sure to remove one ant-virus program before installing another). It will protect your computer from future attacks and also clean present infections.

Use CCleaner or some other registry cleaner to fix registry problems. When it asks if you want to create a registry back-up, make sure you click yes.

Go to start > settings > control panel > system and under the general tab, look under 'computer:' to see how much ram you have. 128mb or less is way too little if you're running xp. If you have 128 or even 256 or less, your computer is going to be very sluggish. You could buy some ram, and significantly speed up your puter, barring any virus or malware problems, for only $50-75.
