Crazy registry problem I had...

Well I was scanning with AVG and I got over 2000 tracking ad-aware stuff. It was all in my HKLM/software/wow64node/microsoft/internet explorer/ActiveXcompatibilty (or something like that for the last part) in my registry. Spybot, or none of the other programs I had picked it up but AVG did for some reason. I had to manually go in the registry and I just deleted the whole ActiveXcompatibilty folder in that part of the registry. I dont use IE so I dont care. I also renamed both IE folders in hopes that nothing can be further written into my registry.

The funny thing is I have not used IE since I installed FireFox, and I have scanned my computer before this and nothing came up with AVG. So how could it all be placed in there if I never used IE? I try to stay on top of this stuff especially since I just built this computer...what programs do you all use? I have AVG, SpyBot, Windows Defender (came with OS) and comodo firewall/windows firewall and this stuff still gets by, I even chose firefox to delete all cookies and history stuff after I close it out.
