Crcdisk.sys BSOD On Clean Vista Install/New HDD

I've had the same dell m1330 for quite some time, although its always worked well enough, it always tore through hard drives.

Before I got this laptop, I never had a single failed hard drive, but during the two years I've had this laptop I've gone through 3. I'd always just attributed it to the fact I carry my laptop around, but now I think it could be something more serious.

For the past week or so I've seen signs of the hard drive failing (System would lock up when I tried to open certain files, uTorrent would report device IO errors...) so I picked up a new drive. Today the system completely failed and would BSOD upon trying to boot (And in safe mode, would freeze and then BSOD on crcdisk.sys). So I diligently popped in the new drive and a vista disk as usual, except this time the same error persisted even with the new drive upon the first bootup of vista.

I know the old drive is toasted because trying to access it on a second computer just locks up the computer, but the new drive is completely OK (checkdisk passes fine and it works normally).

This hurts even more because the new drive is an intel SSD as opposed to the normal 60$ cheap drive I pop in.

I honestly have no idea whats wrong, could it be because I am using an SSD and vista needs drivers or something? Or is there something wrong with the computer? I honestly need my laptop to survive and every hour of downtime is like getting stabbed :/

UPDATE: I successfully installed a slipstreamed version of XP. I'm pretty impressed by the <10 second boot times but I'd still really like to have vista on this machine. Since it seems to be a vista problem, what are your thoughts on windows 7 fixing it?

can you try this

boot with your vista , at the first installation screen only press next, then on the second screen check on the bottom for : repair windows vista

then you will see your windows vista installation, simply press on next for repair, maybe the setup will ask you for a confirmation to load previous windows

but you could give it a try
