Alright my brother dropped his mp3 player and whenever we turn it on now it goes to the creative logo screen and doesn't go any further. I looked up on Creative's support site and found booting into safe mode may help so I did and it works, but i can't do anything on the hard drive to help(disk cleanup and format)they just freeze on the screen that says the action is being taken I don't know what to do I really want to help my brother out.
 
is it still under warranty? Can you send it to Creative? (don't know what kind of service they have).

for parts yes, for labor no. but the warranty doesn't cover accidental, missue, abuse damage which I'm pretty sure dropping falls under so I think he's screwed in that category
 
I wouldn't think that dropping it would've caused the firmware to screw up, but maybe part of the hard drive is defective now, and that was the section with the firmware. I have Creative Zen Micro with a similar problem.

Are you talking about the mp3 player when you say "boot into safemode" as if the mp3 player has a safemode option? Or are you referring to Windows? Just a little confused so clearing that might help.

thats what I'm thinking, that the hard drive is messed up, because everytime you try to do something with the hd as a whole if freezes: formatting, clean up, loading new firmware, and starting up all do it
