Crossfire

Crossfire utilizes two (or more) graphics cards to increase graphics processing power. If you have a CF compatible motherboard and video cards, all you need to do is connect the two cards using the CF bridge that should have came with either the video cards or motherboard. Then enable it in the OS and you should be good to go!
 
ok i knew part but how do i enable it in the os?
and will an hd4670 run with my hd4650 in crossfire? or do i need an identical card. and same or different manufacturer? and will and hd4600 series run with an hd 4800 series? i know, lots of questions
 
I haven't personally used it but it should be an option in the ATI Catalyst Control Center application that you get when you install the latest driver package from ATI's website.

You can use different cards, but they will both only run as fast as the slowest card.
 
there is an option in ATI CCC to enable crossfire. some(most) games will see some boost in performance, but there are a few exceptions. you can most cards of the same family: hd4000, hd3000, but it's best to combine identical cards. e.i. two hd4650s with the same clock speeds for best performance. go to ati radeon page, most this stuff is covered and it's pretty simple to setup. i've done it with two hd3870s :)
 
I actually didnt even have to set it up... put the cards in, installed the drivers, and voilla, it was enabled already. :P
But yes, If you want to use crossfire, get 2 simmilair cards. (Like 2 4870's 512Mb or so. (so same GPU, and same memory size)) if you dont, 1 card will run slower as normal, to match the speeds/performance of the slower card.
