Crossfire...

I have this card:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowI...Ready+CrossFire+Supported+Video+Card+-+Retail

it says Crossfire Supported, does that mean that this would be the card I need to buy?

I'm looking to up my video abilities...

I need a new motherboard though as mine has but one PCI-E slot, but I rather like my GPU's ability...

OR should I just take the $300 from upgrading the mobo and GPU into selling my current GPU for like $120 and having about $420 to buy a single nVidia card?

keep your motherboard, sell the xt, save up another $80 or so bucks and get a GTX! Get a Evga one so when the new cards come around x-mas, you can pick one up for minimal effort and monies using step-up.

IMO. :)

Not necessarily, check the amperes on the +12v line. If you have 30 or more amps currenting through then you'll be fine.

Edit: now that I look into it your card has the same power requirements as a GTX, believe it or not. You'll be able to run that babe fine.

gawd damnit ATI, your cards suck!

my outdated X1950XT gets it arse handed to it by an 8800GTX AND STILL uses the same power??? :'( plus overclocking nVidia is easier then ATI IMO

Haha, well cards are always like this; Newer more powerful card comes out, uses a newer more efficient architecture and thus uses less power than one would think.

I wouldn't call your Xt outdated, I'm still running on a 7600gt and that would hurt my feelings. :P lol, suggestions... Your card is nearing the end of it's prime.. But it's still one of the top 6 or so cards. I think you should continue to wait.. until the Dx10 games you want are out, then spring for the GTX. Unless of course you want to just sell your "POS" now and end your misery. :D

what the... x1950XT is only a little bit slower than 8800gts 320mb. hell it is almost the same sometimes. but 8800gts 320mb supports DX10 and ofcourse runs hotter. it is a okay upgrade, but you will hardly notice any difference.

Yeah this card still damn good, dosn't take Dx10, but i would do like the dude said, keep this one (it's pretty good) and when true DX10 games will be out, buy the new one with vista and u'll be in buisness.

I like the idea of selling this card and taking the $420 and adding another $80 to get a GTX :)

yeah but u can do it later, do you really need it? (no misunderstand, it's your money, but i dont think it's necessary)

Let us know how it works out.

Gaming with a 8800GTX.. that's just awesome man. Crysis/Bioshock/your cup of tea won't know what hit it. ;)
