Crt? Lcd?

I'm currently using a 17" CRT moniter, can anyone give me reasons to why i should or shouldnt upgrade to an lcd monitor?
 
lcd safe alot of space. Thats one of the biggest reasons. But they are also easier on the eyes I think or something like that.

But if u game alot, a crt will be better
 
Everything on an LCD looks more crisp and clear, easy to move, space saver, looks better(design wise)...can't think of anything else for now.
 
Older LCDs have slow response time, so video and games could look smeared. LCD's do not have quite the color range of a good CRT, so CRTs are still better for graphics editing. LCDs are more expensive, but the prices are dropping quickly. There's also usually just one native resolution for an LCD; any other resolution used will look lousy.
CRTs are heavy, bulky, and throw a lot of heat... something to think about as summer approaches. They also use a lot more power.

CRTs take a few seconds to turn on and off, LCDs do it instantly. I have a 500$ CRT, but I could have gotten a great LCD. Wish I had researched.
 
the response time of todays' LCDs are great- i have a 3ms Viewsonic. They save space and look sweet. viewing distance is great.

The LCD's use less energy, but the native resolution means that you may need a better videocard if you want to play games.
 
CRT vs. LCD Help

My 21" CRT monitor just broke. I liked it a lot but it was extremly bulky. I was able to find 19" lcd monitors on sites such as newegg and tigerdirect for as low as $169.99 with rebates. However my main concern and question is, how does the gaming experience and overall quality of an lcd compare to a crt? What are the main differences (other than size) and how noticable are they? Is the picture and gaming experience different between the two? What other major differnces are there? What specs are important to look at when buying a new monitor? If anyone can answer these questions I would appreciate it.

You should look for low response times, high contrast value, I find these to be pretty important. Anything under 8ms is good for gaming and contrast would, in an ideal situation, be over 500:1. 1000:1 would be great but usually they're 500:1. Man I'd want the 10000:1 LCD screen they are still developing a bit but they already sell it.

Are response time and contrast ratio the only significant specs to look at when buying a monitor. What about resolution, brightness and pixil pitch? I am also still wondering aboul the quality differneces between a crt and lcd. Which one should I buy? Is there a noticable visual difference between the two?
