CRT or LCD?

It's a personal preference really, but I prefer LCD's since there much brighter, easier on the eyes, and much less glare. There also better just by their apperance.

I prefer CTR for several reasons

The image in CTR looks better and more realistic than LCD.
In LCD the image will have a lot of artifacts if you run it less than native resolution.
LCD have a limited viewing angle.

I prefer LCD because it's so much more compact than CRT, also it's brighter.. I just recently switched over from a 17" flat CRT to a 19" LCD, wow was I blown away!

I think image quality is almost a moot point, as long as you have some extra money to spend there are LCD's that look amazing. I prefer LCD's myself. Although if I had more space and less of a budget I would have gotten a CRT. I also prefer widescreens.

LCD has a much smaller footprint (good for small desks, gamers tend not to have enormous office desks...)
LCD is arguably brighter (depends on what LCD and what CRT you compare but if you compare a high-end CRT with a high-end LCD I would expect the LCD to be brighter)
CRT has better refresh times (now with LCDs with less than 8ms response times, its not as strong an argument anymore, still CRT still wins)
CRTs have been said to have better color representation but it seems the high-end designers dont care since the high end Apple graphics workstations use the 20" Apple Cinema widescreen LCDs which have awesome and vibrant colors.
CRTs have higher resolution capabilities
LCDs are sharper (especially using DVI connection)
CRTs dont get dead pixels (LCDs can get them but its not as common as some tend to think)
CRTs have less viewing space (a 19" CRT probably has about the same amount of viewable screenspace as a 17" LCD)

As for my personal opinion:
I like LCDs better and I do heavy gaming and I have used CRTs before but still find LCDs more enjoyable.

In LCD the image will have a lot of artifacts if you run it less than native resolution.
LCD have a limited viewing angle.

I ran some games at 1024x768 (which isnt native), and there are absolutly no artifacts.

Thats true, but it's not as bad as say, a rear-projection TV. I can look at my monitor at a 90 degree angle and still see everything perfectly fine.

It's true that LCD's don't display a true black, however with their much higher brightness and contrast, it makes images and videos look much better.
