Crunchbang help

Ok, I am trying (not very well I might add) to install crunchbang on my lappy here. I am using a USB to install, and that is where my issue is.

I can boot to the Graphical and text install, select language nation and keyboard, then it looks for the CD and says Install step failed. I can not continue from that. I have completely removed the Media Bay DVD drive and installed the MB battery in its place to see if no CD drive would help, but it didnt help at all.
So... is there anyone on here that can help guide me to getting this installed from the flashkey?

Did you verify the checksums before you installed to a flashdrive? Bad download = missing data. Never installed it from a usb, but regardless never had a problem with it. What version are you using? Also, what usb program are you using?

yes. I always verify checksums (incident with Ubuntu 10.10 caused this).

Yumi is what I used to put it on the USB. I have never had an issue with it before.

It is crunchbang 10.

You could use lucasbytesgenious's method. It's pretty much the same that I use, and it's never failed me. Never used it for crunchbang, though.

Unetbootin will not boot crunchbang. Yumi is the multiboot version of pendrive linux.

Either way, It seems from the crunchbang forums, that it is not USB installable. So I guess I am going to have to say forget it and move to something else.

what do you mean? like, you specify the crunchbang .iso for install in the menu, then it just wont boot? I don't see why it wouldn't, crunchbang isn't anything more then a customized debian build.

Well, they normally know what their talking about. I'd try it myself if i had a usb laying around. I'm going to assume it's the way corenominal builds it, must conflict with something in unetbootin.

Code:
 sudo ....

So i must wait a couple hours again and install yet another linux on this hard drive to get it installed. No thanks man. I'll ditch it for fedora or DSL till i get a CD-RW.

Did you see the windows section?.. I don't see the problem.
