Just got my 480 and crysis 3 beata works on highest settings w/o lag... am I doing something wrong, cause as far as I know it's supposed to lag as hek

Why do you think it is supposed to lag? Are you running the beta driver for it? The 480 is a very strong card still.

Okay, in this case I'm happy, I thought that it will lag cause my friend who has a 1gb 6950 gets 5-10fps on highest settings. I was just wondering, why does it only let me use 8x msaa and there is no x16 setting?

You sure you're maxing it at 1080p? I can get a few on very high and most on high with AA and AF at 1280x960 with my 470 and get about 40 to 45 FPS average

I think the issue there is he has a hardware or driver issue. My 6970s were running it maxxed out with no hickups @ 1080p. and also take into account it only calls for "CPU: 2.4 GHz quad core processor, Intel Core i5 or better
RAM: 2GB (4 GB for 64-bit operating systems)
Graphics: DirectX 11 compatible video card with 1GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 500-series or AMD 6000-series or better.
Operating system: Windows 7, Win 7 64-bit is preferred
DirectX 9c sound card, dedicated audio card is preferred
16 GB free hard drive space:"

but as you can see, they are far from exact with it. Your friend and you have DX11 cards with good performance.

Jonny, you have got to be kidding me. If you are lagging at 960 resolution, then you would need a GTX580 or bigger to run it at 1080p, which is wrong. Check your drivers and make sure you are running the ones for this game. Also check your temps and make sure they are below 70 in game (on the GPU).

Might be partly my cpu, but it's on the beta drivers and i thought that was pretty good for how demanding and beautiful of a game it is. IDK about the temps but i think they hit 73 or 74 last time i played

And goint by this

The 480 is about 10fps better, which doesnt seem right but oh well. And my frames seem about right too

very likely it is your CPU. But to test that, you would need a better board and a decent cooler. Try and OC it and see how it runs. Your resolution is putting extra load on the CPU really. At 1080p it would be purely GPU limited, but below that, the CPU takes up a lot of the work.

good try jonny. Alpha release and 41FPS on a 690. From this numbers no one will be able to play it, which is retarded none the less since I run it maxxed out @ 1080p with 6970s, which are far below a 690.

So basically the 480 can handle crysis 3 beta at max (still don't understand why I can only set the MSAA to x8 and there is no x16 option)... good :D Oh, and by the way, it looks like it's running at about 20-25 fps so it's not perfect, but playable...

That was the min...

And AF is the one that goes to x16 and it is in the advanced graphics, which are right below the graphics option.

Did you even look at the bench you posted? 30 was the min and 41 was the average for a 690. Given the performance then that puts the 580 around 30 average and a 6970 at 20ish average. The game is simply not that demanding.
