CS:S binding accounts?

I have a CD key for Counterstrike Source but no CD. My friend has the HL2 cds and I tried to use those when it asks for the cd during installation but won't accept them. I went to download the game through steam but I would have to pay for it. then elmarcorulz said I would have to have my friend bind the key to my account.

How would this be done? step-by-step if possible please :o
 
You should be able to download steam (www.steampowered.com), log into your account or make a new one, then click the "games" tab, and click "activate on steam", then enter the CD-Key in and it should show up in the "my games" list. Then just download it. But if the CD-Key was already used, then you cant do that.
 
I have been doing those steps up to where you say it should show up in the "my games" list. It doesn't, and it asks me to insert the CD, which I don't have

That wont work, that is just a backup of the game files. He needs the cd that you install CSS from.

You can buy them on eBay, usually for much cheaper then buying the game at a store or online.

then why wouldn't the cd be included....Somee like they are selling CD'keys they got from a key-generator lol.

Most do offer the cd, but then there's the shipping wait and cost. When its much easier to send through email where you can download through steam. The guy i bought it off had on his ebay page that someone with the cd's will need to bind it, and offered to help anyone who buy's the keys. He said that if i send him my steam id and p/word, he'd bind it for me, so i did, he did, and i changed the password after i received confirmation.
 
My key is legit, it is on the paper that came with the cd, so does anyone know what my friend would have to do on steam to bind the account? like where to go?
