Cubase and USB Mic. Desperately Need Help!

I have been setting up some gear for some time to record my music. However, my final addition, a nice USB condenser mic, the MXL .006 to be exact, seems to hate my recording software, Cubase AI 4 (came bundled with my synthesizer).

I really need to know how to get this working. At first, it would not recognize the mic, then i downloaded the Asio4All drivers, and it came up, but i can't get it to record, and to top it off, my sounds is gone as well (i think that's due to MS GW Synth, but i have no idea how to disable this.)

As you can see, i am utterly lost, and in desperate need of help.

I've been milking the cubase forums everywhere, but have found to worthwhile information, and i am hoping some knowledgeable person here could help me out.

Thanks.

Can you get the mic to show up as a recordable device at all in cubase? If so, can you add it and arm it to a track?

Ok, here's how it's set up. There is a device menu. I can get the mic to show up as a usb mic, however, it never picks up sound. I do believe it has something to do with the MS GW Synth midi controller, however, i can't seem to disable it.

i believe ms synth is related to midi devices and should not be affecting it. Are you on vista or xp?

If it shows up in devices then you need to create a new track and select your mic as your input. Then arm the track and the transport in order to hear it.

I am running Vista 64. And, i did some reading, and the Asio4All driver i am using does conflict with the MS GW Synth, and the maker recommends that i disable it, however, i have no idea how to do this. I have set and armed the mic to the track, however, i still get no sound, in or out.

Try disabling midi output in cubase and see if that opens it up. If you need the midi channel you can always make it a vst
