Curious installation Problem

I am currently trying to install Final Fantasy 7 to my Windows XP Pro computer. This daunting task proves most difficult due to the fact that after I run the setup, the installation dissapears. I wonder to myself, where might it have gone, so I go to the task manager. Sure enough ff7inst.exe is there. I cannot end it in any way shape or form though, which is also odd. So, I reboot my computer, which is the oddest part of all. AS my computer is shutting down, the installation screen pops up, then an error comes up saying "Cannot install because Windows is shutting down...." Any foresight into why the installation only continues when the computer is shutting down and possible ways of fixing it would be most helpful. Thank you,

how long did you wait for the installation of FF7.

most programs nowadays take a while to gather infor from the cd's, etc.. and then will launch the install shield wizard, thus beginning the install.
