Custom Gaming Build - compatible?

I have had a custom gaming build selected for me by a friend, but admittedly I know next to nothing about computers myself. Is anything missing? Is some vital part excluded? Are these things compatible? Is it safe to assemble a computer yourself? I realize I could figure some of this out with internet-browsing, but I thought I would be better off cutting right to the source, so to speak

you can save money too here with the RAM:(and they look cooler:P)

with the saved money you can buy an 2500k stead of 2500:

and when you really want to finish it, buy a cpu cooler:

that is finishing touch for me:D

Thank you! :D

My friend is gonna take the disc drive thing from his broken computer (only three years old or so, so I assume that is compatible to!)

I'll order the parts tomorrow, incase anyone wants to interject anything better than all that! Thanks so much though!

Sure I can afford that much extra! But like I said, I understand nothing, does that replace one of the other parts or is it an optional extra? :)

Thanks again!

It is gonna be your main hard drive;)
you should install your windows and main programs on it.
and you should take the seagate HDD as your data drive and to store the things you dont need to load fast;)
and when you find 60GB too few for your main OS, games and software you can choose a bigger one, take a look at the 120GB's:)

how much more money do you have for it because i know a few more things with newer technologies and stuff. so when you are interested?:)

Go for a Z77 motherboard. Newer and runs cooler than Z68. The Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H would be a good choice, but I have that exact ASUS board you wanted and it's good.

when you have enough, buy a 3570k directly:P
it is better then 2500k and newer:)

I'd disagree that the 3570K is "better than the 2500K". Performance between the pair is very close and the 2500K usually overclocks a bit better and runs cooler once overclocked. I'd only get the 3570K now because it's newer; the 2500K is still a great choice and a fantastic part.

I got to say that your right:)

The 3570K is slightly better then the 2500K in IPC. But the 2500K clocks better and cooler. Toss up! Intel is pretty much at its end with IPC increase on the Core 2 architecture with Sandy Bridge. It show on Ivy Bridge from dropping to 22nm. and 3D.
