ok would there be a way to an old laptop like a p3 and just take out the innerds and make it as good as my family pc in my sig (only 512mb instead of one gb memory). I looked into building a custom laptop and I noticed the most expensive part was the case so I was thinking of either doing that or building a case out of acrylic or wood maybe. would either of those choices be cheaper than buying a laptop like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834115229. I dont even need a pc that will go online just one that can upload pictures so I can take more pictures on trips so pretty much a big hard drive and something that wont crash every 5 seconds is all I need.

Very few laptops are truely upgradable at all, so I seriously doubt you could do much to make a custom laptop as you're planning. How there are a few that have processors that are easy to access and replace, a few RAM slots, etc etc...

I have no clue where you found a case for a laptop, at least one without a motherboard... Laptops are not like regular desktops. This should be pretty obvious by the connections on the rear.

The laptop you posted is...eh...ok. It really depends on what you want to do with it.

The Asus Z71V is a great gaming machine. We carry them, and so do many other boutique shops like VoodooPC, ABS, and WinBook. Excellent build quality and sturdier than anything you see at your local store. As for a laptop that can store pictures on the go, you can basically buy anything on the market, even a budget system with a card reader.
