Have you looked at Core 2 duo?

I'd recommend:

-Intel E6300 processor
-Gigabyte 965P DS-3 motherboard
-2x1GB DDR2800 (G.Skill and Corsair make good memory)
-X1800XT (or maybe the X1900 allinwonder)
-your hard drive you picked is nice
-I'd recommend getting a separate Case and Power supply. For your rig I'd recommend at least 450 watts or 28A on the 12V rails
-Take a look at the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum, or the straight Audigy 2 ZS. the audigy 4 isn't really better. the X-fi line is also good

Hey,

ye the plan was an E6600 but theve all sold out in the Uk and now theve jacked the prices up on then by around $50 or $60. the E6600 is about $160 more now so i decided against. i just read on this forum they can be really overclocked though so i cud go for a cheaper model.

wot happens if my psu gets overloaded? (bad things?:( )

Ben

If you're PSU can't handle the components, you lose system stability, or even worse things can happen, just as things 'popping' or 'cracking' and not working anymore.

my poor budget lol

well ill have a gand for another case and psu even though i love the antec one.

how does an E6300 compare to an x2 4600 as standard and is it gona be loads of effort for me to overclock an E6300?

also how do they compare once both overclocked?

and is there really need for a £120 quid motherboard or is this just snobbery?:P
