Custom PC: Should I buy?

Someone is selling this for $50 (+ $25 shipping) buuuuuut it has some "issues". They claim the CD Drive is broken, and it's password locked (not a big issue if you use a flash drive to wipe hard drive).

My main concern is if it's even worth buying? Seems to have some good parts, but graphics card is unknown (it does have an HDMI adapter). Using this as a gaming computer BTW.

SPECS:
AMD FX(tm) - 4300 quad core processor
3.8 GHz

8 GB DDR3 RAM

Hard drive space unknown

Graphics card unknown "(THERE IS AN AFTERMARKET ONE WITH HDMI)"

Do you have access to this pc to look at it? It's a decent processor and good amount of memory but what motherboard and power supply does it have? A new Dvd burner can be bought for $20. You mean there is a windows password enabled?

No I don't, it's across the country. He didn't supply the information about the power supply or motherboard, it seems like he picked up the PC in a storage or something cause he really doesn't know half of whats in it, and the pics aren't good enough to tell. I sent him a message asking a few questions.

He didn't specify what he meant about password locked, i'm assuming it's just a windows password he doesn't know, which I would do a clean wipe of the hard drive and new install of windows anyways.

Okay, he did say it starts up. He doesn't really know much about it besides what start up information told him. I guess I would be taking a gamble buying this?

The main question is 'why'.

It's not a bad deal to get all of those parts for $75 but you don't know if it has some giant problem or similar.

well worth the money in my opinion. That case alone costs around 75 at least brand new. So if there is one or two things that dont work, it's worth the money to replace them.

I was thinking the same thing, it turns on (which is a start) and the parts that are known are worth more than 75 alone. I just wish I knew more information about it.

He said, and I quote,

"Thank you again. The CD drive opens but does not read discs. It goes to a start up window but requires a password. Unsure of the graphics card. Need to be formatted/reset. I am sorry for some of the confusion."

Seems like it works good but he just doesn't know the password. This is very easy to fix.

Theres a sticker on it that says "IBUYPOWER I-Series 301"

Don't know what it means

I've been doing some research on the Ibuypower I-series 301 thing and this is the graphics card they use with that model of computer (amd 3.8 GHz, 8 GB ram)

NVIDIA GeForce GT 610 1GB

Its up to you if you want to take the chance. The board will accept a decent amount of processors. Here is the cpu support list.

Could upgrade to the fx 8320 and an aftermarket cooler. Are they giving you the OS CD and key to reactivate? As I would definitely wipe the drive and reinstall windows as you don't know whats on it.

I think I'm going to take the chance. No they aren't, but I have an extra one here with me so it's no problem. I'm going to wipe it and reinstall windows, that is if I win the bid.
