So I was helping my buddy fix his computer. He lost his restore CD, so we called eMachines to send another one. By the way, it costs $20. We get it and it doesn't work. His computer will not boot to the cd. So i put it in mine and try it. no success. we call emachines and the lady tells us that our hard drives it dead. we should take it to best buy or circuit city, have them run a disk check and then says, don't let them sell you another one, it will be cheaper to buy off of us. i hang up and call back, they are going to send me a new cd.

how funny is that, my hd is dead b/c it the cd wont boot.

Really? I called up emachines maybe, 4-5 months ago asking what was wrong with my restore dvd. The guy was very helpful, said to do a bunch of stuff in the bios (which I had already done, but whatever) and that if it didnt work I just had to call back for another dvd for free. He also gave me a windows cd key (it was just a network one, but still) for free.

Eventualy I got it working. (I had to change the display type to vga in order to bypass the networking part of the install...) So I never called the guy back.

When you called them, did you say yes or no to already under warranty? I wasnt (by a week, ugh) but I said I was anyway.

:D
