Customizing your computer

Does anyone know any interesting tricks to customize your OS to be more useful to you?

I am using Windows 7 and one thing I don't like is that when I move a window to the top of the screen the OS always tries to maximize it and I don't like it and that got me thinking about this subject.

I would like to know of any tricks that would be helpful with this and other similar problems that come up for a lot of people.

what your talking about is aero snap and it can be turned off by:

going to the control panel and choosing ease of access > change how your mouse works> select prevent windows being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of your screen, then select ok then it will no longer change the window sizes when you move the mouse

as for customizing windows there is a company called stardock that has some interesting programs
